Protect Your Identity
In todays world identity theft happens very often. There are a lot of thieves that want to steal something very precious to us: our own identity. Identity theft happens also, or even primarily, on the Internet. You cannot imagine how easy it is to commit identity theft with all those smart thieves wanting to steal it. However, you can protect yourself from identity theft at least to some extent.
Before you start protecting every data you send on the Internet, it is important for you to know that thieves might not be interested in everything you have. This is what they are mainly interested in: credit card numbers, social security numbers, drivers license numbers, ATM cards, various credit reports, online passwords, PIN numbers, email addresses, phone numbers, home or business addresses, dates of birth, mortgage information, and phone calling cards. By knowing what details to protect, you can greatly reduce the chance of an identity theft.
One of the most important rules is to not give out your personal details to someone who you cannot trust. Not all companies over the Internet are trustworthy so keep that in mind as well. Makes sure you only provide your credit card details over a secure connection, unless you deal with a company that you can really trust. The same applies to other personal details.
