Energy Harvesting

June 23rd, 2012

I do not know how many electronic devices you have at home, but every year I have more and more of them. I believe that others as well have more and more devices as years pass by. Having so many devices at home means that we all spend more money on energy. My energy bill that I pad last month is a lot higher than it was a couple of years ago.

Every time I pay my energy bill, I wonder if something could be done to help the environment. Maybe the concept of power harvesting is familiar to you? I read about it on a website that presents energy harvesting product news. It helped me understand more the concept of energy harvesting and how it exactly works. In my opinion, more and more people should learn about it and do everything to raise the awareness about the issue.

What exactly is power harvesting one might ask? In a nutshell, power harvesting is the process of taking energy from external sources such as solar power, thermal or wind energy and storing for small wireless independent devices. You might want to know that solar, radio frequency, thermoelectric and piezoelectric energy are all types of energy scavenging that can be helpful to all those who care about the environment. What is more, the technology is constantly developing, which is of course a good thing.

I am not sure if you know it, but energy harvesting is a massive growing industry these days. It is good to hear that. I am glad that in countries such as America, Japan and China energy harvesting is taken more seriously as more and more people use so many electrical devices in their homes. Without any doubt, something should be done to help the environment a little. If we do not do anything about it, we might wake up in a world of crisis one day.
