Swearing on Your Blog

January 12th, 2009 Comments off

Most people do not swear on their blogs. How about you? There was a poll done on a popular site, which revealed that 40% of people swear on their blogs. To begin with, we have to understand that this poll is not sufficient proof to ultimately state that exactly 40% of people swear on their blogs. For such a poll to really work, it would have to include a lot more people. It would also have to contain a mix of different types of bloggers. Such a poll would be quite hard to organize. Nonetheless, these are interesting results, so lets look at them more closely. Do our blogs benefit from crude language? I think that in many cases they do, especially if the readers swear a lot in their own lives. This might include a large number of websites from different niche blogs, including personal sites. After all, many people like to visit blogs which can reinforce their belief that their style of living is the right one. By visiting blogs which contain a lot of profanity, such visitors feel less guilty about their own language.
On the other hand, business blogs, blogs striving to be more serious, or blogs trying to appeal to slightly different type of visitors are going to refrain from crude language. English has a large vocabulary which is worth exploring. Ultimately, bloggers will have to make a decision themselves.

Get Paid to Read Emails #2

December 30th, 2008 Comments off

In my last post I discussed Hits4Pay. Basically, the biggest incentive is that they give you a $10 sign up bonus, but the catch is that you do not receive this $10 before you accumulate $15 more. To accumulate $15, you need to wait for Hits4Pay to send you the advertisement emails. Each email has 1 link, and you only get emails once or twice a week. It takes 10 to 20 seconds to click on a link. Since for every link you click on you get $0.02, you are going to need a few months or years to accumulate $15. Does it mean that you cannot earn money with Hits4Pay? You can, but only as a person who refers many other users. However, they are probably not going to get paid, so it really looks like a pyramid scheme where only those who refer a lot of other users earn money.
Since it seems like it is a pyramid scheme, I am not going to encourage you to join it, but I know that there are people who got paid, especially those who had referrals. On the bright side, reading those emails does not take a lot of time, so if you are interested, you can sign up by visiting their webpage.

Get Paid to Read Emails #1

December 30th, 2008 Comments off

The idea behind Hits4Pay is to get paid for reading commercial emails. Earnings are as follows:

-You will receive a $10 Signup Bonus.
-You will earn $0.02 For Each ad.
-You will earn $0.01 from your first level members reading ads.
-You will earn $0.01 from your second level members reading ads.

The emails are customized to your preferences. You can get your payment by check once you reach $15.00. This company has a reputation of generally being honest, but the downside is that they do not pay that much. A good way of increasing your income is to have referrals.
However, I have to warn you that if you plan on using Hits4Pay, you should keep in mind that they decide how many emails they will send you. Before they pay you, you have to earn $15 by reading emails, which means that it might take some time to accumulate $15. If you manage to accumulate $15, as a bonus they are throwing in another $10, but only the first time they pay you. The problem is that they have the right to completely stop sending you emails once you begin approaching the payout.

Entertainment Sold Everywhere

December 4th, 2008 Comments off

It seems that these days entertainment is being sold everywhere. For example, last year HBO announced that it will be selling shows on Apples iTunes, and that the price is estimated to be at $1.99 per episode for most shows. Having said that, some shows are expected to cost more than $2 and this includes some new releases. This means a change in the overall strategy of Apple, as until now they insisted on selling shows at the same price, for the sake of simplicity for consumers. In my opinion it is a good decision, as I see no problem for consumers to spot the differences in prices, and this will make some older shows cheaper as well.

Is Spamming Over?

October 28th, 2008 Comments off

As you all know, there are different ways of advertising. One of them are unsolicited phone calls. I never liked telemarketers, as they disturb you when you want to relax, when you are working, or eat a meal with your family. Basically, they waste your time and are often not welcomed. On the Internet, the same is true with spammers. Spammers post and send messages that nobody is interested in, so they waste your time. One of the targets of spammers is MySpace, as it is a very popular site with many pages to spam. MySpace has been fighting with spammers for quite some time, and it is suing many marketers who flood MySpace with unwanted messages. MySpace has already won a few cases, and received compensation ranging from $6 to $230 million dollars. I hope the war on spam goes well. The times when spamming was never punished might be over, as there are many cases of spammers paying for their crimes. For example, this year a spammer was ordered to pay $230 million dollars to MySpace because of an anti-spam judgment. As a matter of fact, this is believed to be the largest anti-spam judgment ever. However, I cant imagine MySpace collecting this money easily, as the spammer probably doesnt have this kind of money. In any case, it will probably scare other spammers. Since the technology to filter spam email is getting better and better, I think it is safe to predict that the number of spammers should be decreasing.
