There are millions upon millions of existing websites, and sometimes it is not easy to find the sites that are the most useful. In my opinion, the best way to do it is to visit the most popular websites in the world. That is because those sites that are very popular, also have to be useful. Probably the most popular are search engines and emails services; however, I would like to list other type of sites this time. Here is a short list of such sites:
-Facebook is an awesome site that allows users to interact with other people. You can create your profile, interact with other users etc. Internet is a great place to meet other people, and to hang out with those whom you already know. Facebook has a lot of neat features, which make visiting this site worthwhile.
-Wikipedia is the online encyclopedia and what makes it so great is that anyone can edit its contents. This way there can be a lot of useful information accumulated very easily. While it certainly is not perfect, it is the largest encyclopedia of this type that allows users to meet new friends. It has some similarities with Facebook, but it is slightly different.
There are thousands of interesting websites on the Internet, and I am sure you will not have problems finding one that will be useful to you.
Page Rank is the most popular way of ranking websites. There is a similar tool to the popular Page Rank that offers to rate your site in a different manner. In this case its name is Real Ranker, and you can visit its website to check out your rank. What is interesting is that each site is rated from 0 to 100 points, so each site is rated in a more precise way compared to the traditional PR scale from 0 to 10. I do not think that this tool will become very popular, because it was not released by any major company. It is not even backed up by any popular company. Nonetheless, it is an appealing tool that in my opinion has a lot of potential. Visit its website to check your Real Ranker score and see for yourself.
Virtual environments are an interesting concept; and recently the number of games that offer such environments has increased. Second Life is an example of such an online game. Second Lifes currency is the Linden Dollar, and it is exchangeable for US dollars in a marketplace consisting of residents, Linden Lab, and real life companies. The exchange rate fluctuates, but generally L$ 265 are exchangeable for 1 USD. Records indicate that a small percentage of players derive net incomes from this economy, ranging from a few hundred to several thousand USD per month. On the other hand, a larger percentage derive a gross income large enough to offset most of their expenditures in L$. While this game might attract people to earn money, there is also a large group of players that spend a lot of money playing this game. The truth is that they do not earn enough money to offset the expenses and because of that they will lose real money.
The popularity of virtual worlds like Second Life is growing, and some universities like San Jose State University have even built a virtual campus in Second Life. This campus spans 16 virtual acres, and is being visited by students who are on a quest for knowledge. The staff is trying to simulate real world experiences, and they hope that this will allow students to have an interesting experience. Among other things, Second Life is used to face the terror of public speaking. It will be interesting to observe whether more institutions will build their virtual property in such worlds.
You might be wondering whether I recommend playing Second Life in order to earn some additional income. I think that it might be worth a try, especially for people who have interest in playing online games. It might also be appealing for those who spend a lot of time chatting online. Do you think that Virtual environments will become more and more popular in the upcoming years?
There has been a battle waged between video game consoles and PCs for many, many years. The first console that in my opinion was really very competitive on the market was Nintendo NES. After Nintendo NES, came Super Nintendo, and after that, many consoles emerged as well. The current generation consoles are Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. It is the seventh generation of consoles, and those are consoles released since 2004 by Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo. These consoles offer superior graphics compared to its predecessors, and stunning visual effects. However, some gamers are asking the question whether graphics are the most important thing in games. Experienced gamers are looking more for innovative ideas, rather than simply improved graphics. They are interested in original games which are quite challenging. On the other hand, most gamers, especially younger ones, seem to decide which games to buy based on graphics. Some argue that this is why consoles appear to be gaining an upper hand in many countries, including Germany where recently PC game sales dropped, while the sales of games for console and mobile devices rapidly. Is this trend going to continue? It is hard for analysts to say, but they predict that the sale of games for mobile devices will definitely keep growing.
Backing up data is very important. It is up to a person what he wants to back up; however, there is an agreement on what should be backed up on your computer in the first place. Here are some of the files and folders that definitely should be backed up, so that you will not lose any important data:
1. My Documents. It probably contains your most important documents. In case you store your documents in a different folder, make sure you back it up instead.
2. Outlook folders and settings. This will ensure your outlook setting will be backed up.
3. Registry. This is the most important part of your operating system, so it is important to have a back up. This can also be done by setting a restore point in System Restore.
4. Email. You may sometimes want to back up any important emails.
5. Instant messengers. You should especially consider backing them up if you sue them on a regular basis or when you want to have any important conversations backed up.
6. Program files. Make sure you back up all of the programs you use often.
7. Of course, backing up the content of your blog is also important.
There is nothing worse than losing valuable data, so back up anything you might ever need in the future.
Mobile communication is easy to acquire these days. Almost everybody can have access to mobile technology. It also became affordable during the last couple of years. Even ten years ago, it was landlines all the way. Today, the situation is completely different. Many people recognize the benefits of owning mobile phones, which are:
-The possibility of text messaging and sms marketing.
-Some mobile phones have access to the Internet, which means that a person can access the Internet from almost anywhere.
-Some mobile phones can be connected to a PC and serve as a communication device.
-Mobile phones revolutionized the way we live. We can talk with everybody on the go, wherever we are. Since almost everybody has a call phone or even two of them, you can try and call anybody at almost any time. Parents can have control over children, since they can also know where they are and what they do.
Google Analytics is one of the most popular tools that people use to analyze the traffic coming to their websites. It has many features, and even demanding users are not complaining. Recently, Google incorporated a few useful tools like the benchmarking feature, data sharing, and audio ad charting. With these tools you can compare your sites performance to industry benchmarks. You will also be able to see when your Google Audio ads run, in relation to your web site traffic. The benchmarking feature is especially useful since you will be able to plot your data and give you the ability to overlay various industry averages on top of your statistics. For those concerned with privacy, I would like to add that the data is anonymized and aggregated, so you do not have to worry about your competitors checking out your site’s details. On the other hand, analyzing the data included in the benchmarking feature can be useful to every webmaster. That is because it is important to know how you compare to your competitors. The only people not interested in these features might be those who simply have a website for fun and do not rely at all on the number of visitors.
Our CDs and DVDs need to be treated with care if we want them to serve us for a long time. There are a few principles that I am going to mention that will help you make sure that your CDs and DVDs will be in a great shape.
1. Keep your CDs and DVDs away from the sun and heat.
2. Keep your CDs and DVDs away from places where they might get scratched. Always keep them in cases. If you do not have enough cases, then I suggest you buy paper cases, which are quite inexpensive.
3. Avoid touching the side of CD/DVD where the data is stored.
4. Hold your CD/DVD by its edges. Alternatively, you can slip your index finger of your non-dominant hand through the center hole of the DVD/CD.
5. Use a soft cloth to clean your discs.
6. Avoid chemicals and or cloths that might scratch your CDs while cleaning them.
7. Clean the discs from inside to outside.
8. Store your discs properly. The best solution is to store them vertically in a closed box.
Just using common sense will extend the life of a DVD. You will be able to view your favorite movie on your DVD even in a few years.
Many people only use Internet Explorer and never even try to check out any other Web browsers. Internet Explorer is definitely the most popular browser, but who said that it is the best? It is certainly not the best only because it is bundled with Windows. As a person who prefers Firefox and Opera, I find it inconvenient that some sites only work well in Internet Explorer. Of course, I have IE installed on my PC as well. If it is necessary I can run it at any time, but generally I prefer not to do it. That is because I already have dozens of programs running on my computer.
Recently, I was wondering how many browsers a typical computer user can name. Do they know about Opera, Firefox, Google Chrome, and Netscape? Probably not everybody, as only those who spend a lot of time surfing the Web are more likely to know them. However, I am glad that the overall awareness of other browsers is growing, and that people are more and more open to using other browsers as well. I predict that in the future, there will be many reliable browsers which we will be able to choose from. Today the competition is still not so steep, but in the years to come, there will be more and more companies releasing feature-rich browsers. I encourage each one of you to try at least one other browser besides IE to see how you like it. If you do so, it will be a useful educational experience.
Today, I would like to offer a tip on opening restricted websites. When I am talking about restricted websites, I do not mean any illegal sites. On the other hand, what I have in mind what websites that you cannot open from places like your office or school. Those sites are not harmful, however, they are often considered distracting in certain environments, so that is why they are often blocked. I will show you how to access them anyway. Actually, there are a few ways to do it:
-Search for a website in Google like, for example, website.com. You will notice that when you click on the website it will not open. However, you can open the cache version of the page, which will enable you to visit the site. It might be a slightly older version of the webpage though.
-Use an online IP conversion tool to get the IP address of a particular website, and enter the IP address in your browser. This should open the website as well.
-Use a proxy anonymizer tool website, which will change your IP address. This will change your identity on the Internet, and should allow you to visit the restricted website as well.
I wrote the above guide for education reasons only, so please do not abuse the knowledge you gained. There are many reasons why a person would want to access a restricted website and I believe that there are many good reasons. Of course, there might be some situations when it will be wiser to to use this knowledge you gained.
